A new and exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced BESS Delivery Manager to work for a well-established family run manufacturer based in Leeds.
What’s the job:
Reporting to the Group Head of Operations, the BESS Delivery Manager will take functional responsibility for all aspects of Tesla and other BESS related business from pre-contract award through to post-handover support. Ensuring service excellence across all departments whilst maintaining P&L responsibilities. Keeping the board up to date on business performance and ensuring transparent, effective and well controlled business operations across all Tesla sites and projects.
Key Responsibilities:
· Leading all end-to-end aspects of Tesla project execution.
· Deliver service excellence by engaging and driving stakeholders across the organisation.
· Leverage matrix reports to ensure that Engineering, Projects, Contracts, QA, H&S, Site Services, Planning, Logistics functions are optimised for our Tesla business purposes.
· Ensure profitability targets are met through effective oversight of PM’s and other stakeholders.
· Identify risks, get ahead of issues and proactively drive solutions to ensure customer satisfaction.
· Hold fortnightly internal all stakeholder reviews, chaired in Leeds.
· Coach, train and mentor the team & improve processes to bring stakeholders together.
· Build a team environment - articulates common goals, communicate how individual roles contribute to team success, provide clear direction.
· Provide monthly board updates in Leeds.
· Monitor GM as ‘quoted’ and as ‘delivered’, where erosion occurs, understand, report and make recommendations for improvement.
· Drive start up and close out project meetings & ensure effective planning.
· Manage changing priorities at a production planning and individual project level.
· Develop a range of KPI’s to ensure adequate functional oversight, measurement and control.
· Manage a top-level project tracker to monitor and provide appropriate metrics for different audiences / functions.
· Be a proactive solution focused leader, encouraging and driving forward new initiatives with the team when required.
· Escalate all risks and issues to the board.
· Take ownership of all key aspects of internal service delivery.
· Drive fortnightly project review meetings with Tesla and ensure that PM’s & CM’s are well prepared in advance.
· Be the conduit between Tesla and WPS on any production plan changes and subsequent maximisation of revenue opportunities.
· Develop BESS processes where required.
· Attend and present at Company events; exhibitions and CPD’s across the UK, Europe and Worldwide.
· Visit sites within the UK & Europe for appreciation, although generally driving site progress through PM’s.
· Attend all key technical meetings.
· Encourages accountability to ensure that employees understand their level of accountability, including what they are responsible to deliver and are expected to undertake.
· Call out unsuitable performance and state what ‘right’ looks like.
· Manage relations with all key external stakeholders including Tesla US, investors etc.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
· Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
· Minimum of ONC in Electrical Engineering or similar to demonstrate technical knowledge is essential.
· Technical and/or practical knowledge specifically related to energy infrastructure including transformers and switchgear is desirable.
· Experience in defining, managing and delivering equipment projects, programmes and portfolios.
· Expertise in multiple planning management and control disciplines.
· Fully conversant with risk and opportunity management including associated methodologies.
· Experience working within the manufacturing/engineering sectors preferably transformers.
· Understanding of relevant HSE legislation for workplace and construction site working. Preferably experienced in Risk Assessment and Method Statement (RAMS) development and/or use.
· Understanding of the impact of current legislation such as CDM as it relates to product design. (Technical & Design support will be provided as necessary) desirable.
· I.T. literate with the MS product suite and ideally experienced using Progress software.
· Strong communication/people skills.
· Current driving licence and access to a car.
